An overview guide of Mail7

​Mail7.io is a service that allows receiving emails at a temporary address that self-destructed after 24 hours. Many forums, websites and blogs ask visitors to register before they can view content, post comments or download something. Mail7 is the most advanced throwaway email service that helps you avoid spam and stay safe in such cases.

It also offers a private mailbox, where you can create and manage private email(s) with Mail7.io domain, Mail7.io subdomains and your custom domain(s). If required, you can also set up actions for the received email(s) like delete, forward, etc. Not just this, you can add team members, who can access all of the private email(s) received in the mailbox of Mail7. To access the private mailbox and manage the team, you need to create an account or log into your existing account.

Note: To request access to the private account, click this link and fill out the form. Alternatively, you can click the Private Inbox button or Get your free private inbox link given on the landing page of Mail7.io, which will open the Login screen. On the bottom of the Login screen, click the Get Access link and fill the form to request access.

How it works

This is useful in generic use and as well as for the automation testing engineers.

Manual Usage: Suppose, you are browsing a blog website and it requires you to register/login to keep reading an article. You might not want to register using their personal email address because of the spamming concerns and setting an email account just for this case is too much of an effort. No worries, that’s where the Mail7 comes handy, enter a prefix to the @mail7.io domain and you are good to go. Not just this, prefix need not be unique since it is public.

Let’s say you have created an account on the blogging website using the [email protected] email address and a verification link has been sent to your email address by the website.

To verify your account, open the mail7.io website, enters the email address prefix i.e. test in the text box and click the Go to Public Inbox button:

You are redirected to the Inbox page, where you can open the respective email and click the verification link to verify your account. For more details, please refer to this document.

API Usage: Let’s say you have used the Mail7 email address for account creation and you are performing a quality check for an application. This application requires you to verify your account to proceed further. Now, going to the inbox and manually verifying yourself by clicking the verification link can be tedious work (considering that there are multiple account creation and verification is involved in the process).

You can certainly avoid the above-mentioned tedious process and verify user account(s) in an automated way. First, you will have to retrieve emails using the Inbox API and then run an automation script to click any link available in the email. It will allow you to verify the accounts in bulk.
